About Rude Boys
Rude Boys has been slinging boards on Caribou Street since 1988, making it one of the oldest snowboard shops in Canada and the Bow Valley's original rider-owned destination for specialist snowboard and skateboard gear. Founded by locals Mineki Yamada and Dustin Craven, the shop has been a Burton dealer from day one and carries a tightly curated selection of boards, boots, bindings, outerwear, and accessories from the brands that matter most to dedicated riders.
The dedicated rental fleet is built for snowboarders who want specialist expertise rather than the generic multi-sport experience of a bigger chain store. Every staff member rides, and they take genuine pride in matching each customer to the right board shape, flex, and size for their style and ability — whether that means a forgiving all-mountain twin for a first-timer or a stiff directional deck for someone charging Lake Louise's back bowls. On-site tuning, waxing, and binding mounting round out the workshop services.
Next door, Rude Girls — the women's-specific sister store — has held down the wall since 2000, and a second Sundance location at 215 Banff Avenue expands the brand's reach to the lower end of town. Together, the two storefronts create a tight, welcoming community hub for Banff's snowboard culture, hosting events, supporting local riders, and keeping the independent spirit alive in a town increasingly dominated by corporate rental outlets.
