About Vermont Adaptive Ski & Sports
Vermont Adaptive Ski & Sports is a nationally recognised nonprofit organisation headquartered at Pico Mountain in Killington, dedicated to empowering people of all abilities through inclusive sports and recreation. Since its founding, Vermont Adaptive has served thousands of participants with physical, cognitive, and emotional disabilities, providing professionally trained instructors and specialised adaptive equipment so that everyone can experience the thrill of outdoor adventure regardless of ability or financial means.
Winter programming includes alpine skiing, snowboarding, cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing at Killington Resort, Pico Mountain, Sugarbush, and Bolton Valley. In the warmer months, Vermont Adaptive expands statewide with kayaking, canoeing, stand-up paddleboarding, cycling, rock climbing, hiking, horseback riding, tennis, sailing, and environmental education programmes. They also run CORE Connections wellness retreats that combine adaptive sports with holistic health programming for veterans and other underserved communities.
What makes Vermont Adaptive truly special is their no-barrier philosophy — no participant is ever turned away for inability to pay. Equipment loans, scholarships, and volunteer-driven instruction ensure that cost is never a barrier to participation. With decades of adaptive sports expertise and partnerships with Vermont's top resorts, they've built one of the most comprehensive inclusive outdoor recreation programmes in the northeastern United States.
