Creating Categories
Categories help you group related products together, making it easier for both you and your customers to find what they need. Categories appear on your booking widget as browseable sections and in the dashboard as filter options.
Creating a New Category
- Go to Rentals > Categories in the left sidebar.
- Click the + Add Category button.
- In the Add new category panel, fill in the following fields:
- Category name (required) -- The display name for this category (e.g., "Water Sports", "Camping Gear", "Photography Equipment").
- Category image (optional) -- Upload an image for the category. Accepted formats: jpg, jpeg, png, bmp, gif, svg, or webp (max 500 kB, recommended 500 px x 500 px).
- Parent category (optional) -- Use the searchable dropdown to select a parent category if this should be a sub-category.
- Description (optional) -- Enter a brief description of the category (visible to customers). You can click the green AI Generate button to auto-generate a description.
- Click Add Category.

Parent and Child Categories
You can create a hierarchy of categories by nesting them:
- Parent category -- A top-level group (e.g., "Water Sports").
- Child category -- A sub-group under a parent (e.g., "Kayaking" under "Water Sports").
When you filter by a parent category, all products in its child categories are included automatically.

Example hierarchy
Water Sports
├── Kayaking
├── Surfing
└── Paddleboarding
Camping
├── Tents
└── Cooking
Editing a Category
- In the categories table, click the pencil icon on the category row.
- Update the Category name, Category image, Parent category, or Description as needed.
- Click Save.
Deleting a Category
- Click the trash icon on the category row.
- Confirm the deletion in the dialog.
caution
Deleting a category does not delete the products inside it. Those products will simply become uncategorized. If the category has child categories, those will also need to be reassigned or deleted separately.
