About A Day in the West
A Day in the West is Sedona's oldest family-owned Jeep tour company, with roots going back to 1949 when founder Bob Bradshaw began leading horseback tours through the red rocks while working as a Hollywood stuntman, location scout, and stand-in actor. Over the course of his career, Bob worked on 28 films, 19 television shows, and 77 commercials — he was even one of the original Marlboro Men — and built the first western movie town beneath Coffee Pot Rock, where countless westerns were filmed through the 1960s and 1970s.
Bob acquired a 140-acre ranch in 1960 that went on to host five feature films, two television series, and dozens of commercials, including the 1967 Elvis Presley film "Stay Away, Joe." That same pioneering spirit carries on today under Bob's son, John Bradshaw, who runs the company and continues the family tradition of sharing Sedona's backcountry with visitors. Current offerings include private 4x4 Jeep excursions through Diamondback Gulch, the Mogollon Rim, and the seven canyons area west of town, as well as horseback rides, helicopter tours, and wine tasting outings.
What sets A Day in the West apart is the deeply personal, small-group format — every Jeep tour is private, so the guide tailors the route, pace, and storytelling to your group's interests. The "Go Easy" tour is perfect for families with young children or anyone who prefers a gentler ride, while the Red Rock West trail delivers a more adventurous off-road experience with panoramic canyon overlooks. With nearly 75 years of Bradshaw family history woven into every trip, this is as authentic a Sedona experience as you can find.
