EquipDash for ChatGPT ProThis feature requires the Pro plan

The EquipDash app for ChatGPT lets you talk to your EquipDash account from inside ChatGPT itself. If you already spend time in ChatGPT for other work, you can ask things like "What rentals are out today?" or "Is the double kayak free on Saturday?" without switching tabs.

It's a separate way to use Dash, the EquipDash AI Assistant. Everything you do inside ChatGPT runs against your live EquipDash account — same data, same permissions.

Use Dash in EquipDash or in ChatGPT

You don't have to choose. The in-app AI Assistant and the ChatGPT app both work — pick whichever fits the moment. Most owners use the in-app assistant for daily ops and the ChatGPT app for quick one-off questions while they're already chatting in ChatGPT.

What you can do inside ChatGPT​

Once installed, you can ask the EquipDash app to:

  • Look up bookings by customer name, date, or reference number
  • Check rental availability for specific products and dates
  • See today's pickups, returns, and overdue items
  • View upcoming experience schedules and participant counts
  • Search for customers and view their booking history
  • Pull revenue summaries and booking stats
  • Look up promo codes and vouchers

Installing the app​

  1. Open the EquipDash app page in ChatGPT: chatgpt.com/apps/equipdash.
  2. Click Try it (or Install).
  3. ChatGPT will ask you to connect your EquipDash account. Click Connect and sign in with the email and password you use for EquipDash.
  4. Approve the connection. ChatGPT now has read and write access to your EquipDash account on your behalf.

That's it — you're ready to use it.

You need an EquipDash login

You can only connect the app to an existing EquipDash account. If you don't have one yet, sign up here first.

Using the app in a conversation​

  1. Start a new chat in ChatGPT.

  2. Type your question naturally. For example:

    "Use EquipDash to show me today's pickups."

    "Ask EquipDash if the stand-up paddleboards are available this Saturday."

    ChatGPT will recognise the request, call the EquipDash app, and show you the answer inline.

  3. Follow up with more questions in the same chat — the app keeps the context for that conversation.

You can also pin or favourite the app in ChatGPT so it's easy to find.

Permissions and access​

The ChatGPT app uses the same role and permissions as the EquipDash account you connected:

  • If you're an owner or admin, the app can see and manage everything.
  • If you're a staff member with limited access, the app respects those limits — it can only show or change what your role allows.

If you want a team member to use the ChatGPT app, they should connect the app with their own EquipDash login, not yours. That way the data they see matches their permissions.

Credits and billing​

  • The ChatGPT side of things is billed by OpenAI as part of your ChatGPT plan. There's no extra cost from EquipDash for using the app.
  • The EquipDash app doesn't consume your EquipDash AI credits — those are only used by Dash inside EquipDash.
  • A free ChatGPT account works, but ChatGPT may rate-limit how often you can use apps. A paid ChatGPT plan removes most of those limits.

Disconnecting the app​

If you want to revoke ChatGPT's access to your EquipDash account:

  1. In ChatGPT, open the app's page and click Disconnect (or Remove).
  2. Or, in EquipDash, go to Settings > AI Assistant > Connected Apps and click Revoke next to ChatGPT.

Either option works. After disconnecting, ChatGPT can no longer read or change anything in your EquipDash account until you connect again.

Common questions​

Is my data safe?​

Yes. The connection between ChatGPT and EquipDash uses the same secure OAuth-style flow that other ChatGPT apps use. You can revoke access at any time from either side, and the app can only do what your EquipDash role permits.

Will ChatGPT see my customer data?​

The app only sees the data needed to answer your specific question. For example, if you ask "How many bookings do we have today?", it returns a count — not your full customer list. ChatGPT does not store your EquipDash data after the conversation ends.

Why isn't the app responding when I mention EquipDash?​

If ChatGPT doesn't pick up the request automatically, try being more explicit: "Use the EquipDash app to..." or open the app from ChatGPT's apps panel before typing your message. You may also need to reconnect the app if your EquipDash login has changed.

Can I create bookings from ChatGPT?​

Yes — the app can create bookings, add customers, send emails, and run most of the same actions Dash can run inside EquipDash. Just like in the in-app assistant, you'll be asked to confirm before any action that changes your data.
