About Sea to Sky Gondola
The Sea to Sky Gondola is one of Squamish's signature attractions, whisking visitors from the floor of Howe Sound to a 885-metre summit station with sweeping views over the fjord, the Stawamus Chief and the surrounding Coast Mountains. Located right off Highway 99 between Vancouver and Whistler, it has become a must-stop for road-trippers and a year-round playground for hikers, sightseers and snowshoers. The ride itself is a scenic experience, but the real draw is everything waiting at the top.
At the summit, guests can walk the Sky Pilot Suspension Bridge, follow a network of viewing platforms and interpretive trails, or set off on longer alpine hikes that connect into the backcountry. The Via Ferrata — a guided cable-and-rung climbing route across the cliffs — offers a genuine mountaineering thrill for those wanting more adventure, while winter transforms the area into a hub for snowshoeing and easy alpine walking. A lodge, café and event spaces make it comfortable for all ages and abilities.
What makes the Sea to Sky Gondola stand out is how it opens high-alpine scenery to everyone, regardless of fitness or experience. Families, casual visitors and serious adventurers all find something at the summit, from a relaxed coffee with a view to a guided cliff climb. It encapsulates the Squamish ethos: big mountain experiences made genuinely accessible.
