About Vishnu River Supply
Vishnu River Supply is Flagstaff's dedicated river gear shop, opened by veteran Colorado River boatman and whitewater kayaker Thomas Herring. Located in East Flagstaff on Eagle Mountain Drive, the shop fills a niche that the city's cycling-heavy outdoor retail scene had long been missing — a proper brick-and-mortar store focused entirely on paddlesport and river running equipment.
The retail space stocks whitewater kayaks from Waka and Pyranha, packrafts, Hala stand-up paddleboards, Tomcat inflatable kayaks, lifejackets, paddles, helmets, dry bags, dry suits, air pumps, coolers, stoves, ropes, and straps. Daily kayak and SUP rentals run at $25 per day, popular for outings on nearby Lake Mary, the Salt and Verde rivers, and East Clear Creek south of Winslow.
What sets Vishnu apart is the owner's firsthand river expertise. Herring has guided commercially on the Colorado and paddled some of the world's gnarliest whitewater, and that knowledge translates into genuinely informed gear recommendations. The shop also handles gear repairs — a rarity for paddlesport equipment in Northern Arizona.
