About Florida Keys Kayak
Florida Keys Kayak operates from Robbie's Marina at mile marker 77.5, putting paddlers onto some of the most rewarding shallow water in the Keys. From the launch, it is a short paddle to two state parks that cars cannot reach: Indian Key Historic State Park, a ghost-town island that was once the seat of Dade County, and Lignumvitae Key Botanical State Park, a virgin tropical hammock rising out of Florida Bay.
The shop rents single and tandem kayaks, clear-bottom kayaks, and stand-up paddleboards by the hour, with the flexibility to point renters toward mangrove tunnels, grass flats, or the island crossings depending on wind and skill level. Guided tours add local history and wildlife knowledge — paddling naturalists lead trips through the backcountry where rays, nurse sharks, turtles, and wading birds are regular company in the gin-clear shallows.
The location is what sets the operation apart. Most Keys paddling outfits launch into generic mangrove creeks; here, the destinations are genuine landmarks with mooring docks, walking trails, and stories. Combined with the buzz of Robbie's Marina — tarpon feeding, food, and shops before or after the paddle — Florida Keys Kayak turns a simple rental into one of Islamorada's best half-day adventures.
