About Mt. Holiday
Mt. Holiday is a beloved community-owned, non-profit ski area located just 15 minutes east of downtown Traverse City at 3100 Holiday Road. Founded in 1949, it's one of the last non-profit ski areas in the United States that operates without federal, state, or local tax support — sustained entirely by the community it serves.
The mountain features 16 runs ranging from beginner to advanced terrain, serviced by chairlifts and a tow rope. Beyond downhill skiing and snowboarding, they offer snow tubing with an express return lift, a 10-station zipline course spanning over 4,000 feet of cable, and night skiing under lights. Equipment rentals for skis, snowboards, and tubes are available on-site, along with lessons for all ages and ability levels.
Mt. Holiday's non-profit model keeps prices significantly lower than commercial resorts, making it the affordable family-friendly option in the Traverse City area. The zipline — open Wednesday through Sunday — adds a year-round adventure element, and their community events and race programs foster a tight-knit local ski culture that's increasingly rare in the industry.
