About Adirondack Extreme Adventure Course
Adirondack Extreme Adventure Course holds the distinction of being the first aerial adventure park to open in the United States, welcoming its first climbers in 2007 on a forested hillside just south of Bolton Landing along Route 9. The park is set within a mature Adirondack hardwood forest, where towering pines and oaks serve as the anchor points for an elaborate network of zip lines, suspended bridges, cargo nets, swinging logs, and aerial surfboards that challenge balance, strength, and nerve at heights up to sixty feet above the forest floor.
The course system includes six adult courses and four kids' courses, each color-coded by difficulty from beginner-friendly green routes to expert-level black courses that will test even the most athletic visitors. A dedicated zip line–only tour is also available for guests who want the thrill of flying through the canopy without the climbing elements. All participants receive a full safety harness, helmet, and hands-on training from certified instructors before heading into the trees. The park typically operates from April through November, with extended hours during peak summer months and special twilight sessions on select evenings.
What draws visitors to Adirondack Extreme is the rare combination of genuine physical challenge and stunning natural setting. Unlike indoor climbing gyms or theme-park–style attractions, every obstacle here is built around living trees in an actual forest, and the experience changes with the seasons — from spring wildflowers blooming below the platforms to the blazing fall foliage that surrounds you mid-climb. It is a must-visit for adventure seekers staying in the Lake George area.
