About Rainforestation Nature Park
Rainforestation Nature Park is a 100-acre wildlife and cultural attraction set in the heart of the Kuranda rainforest, just a 30-minute scenic drive from Cairns. Locally owned and operated by the Woodward family since 1976, the park has grown into one of Tropical North Queensland's most popular day-trip destinations, combining Australian wildlife encounters with Indigenous cultural experiences and a unique amphibious vehicle rainforest tour.
The park features three signature experiences: an Army Duck rainforest tour aboard a restored World War II amphibious vehicle that travels through pristine rainforest on both land and water; the Pamagirri Aboriginal Experience, which includes traditional dance performances and a dreamtime walk exploring bush food, medicine, and weapon-throwing; and the Koala and Wildlife Park, home to koalas, wombats, cassowaries, saltwater crocodiles, kangaroos, and native birds. Photo opportunities with koalas and baby crocodiles are available throughout the day.
What makes Rainforestation stand out is its unique combination of experiences — few attractions in Australia offer wildlife, Indigenous culture, and a rainforest vehicle tour all on one site. The park holds both Ecotourism Australia and Respecting Our Culture certifications, reflecting its commitment to sustainable tourism and authentic Indigenous engagement.
