About SUP Cape May
SUP Cape May teaches stand-up paddleboarding and kayaking from its base at 960 Ocean Drive, launching students onto the sheltered back bays and creeks behind Cape May. The operation is instruction-first: rather than simply handing over a board, the team builds every outing around proper technique, correctly sized equipment, and water safety.
SUP and kayak lessons run about an hour and a half, with instructors covering stance, stroke mechanics, and turning before setting paddlers loose. Certified guides lead group tours through the local waterways with trip photography included, and sunset excursions run Thursday through Sunday evenings when the marsh light is at its best. Experienced paddlers can step up to ocean excursions led by instructor Beth for a genuine open-water challenge. Board and kayak rentals are available for independent paddlers, and instructional tours are supported by a safety follow boat with cold refreshments waiting at the end.
The follow-boat model is what separates SUP Cape May from drop-off rental stands: beginners paddle knowing support is yards away, which makes the sport accessible to nervous first-timers and kids. Add included photos and a progression path that runs from first lesson to ocean paddling, and it's a full paddle program rather than a rental counter.
