Captain Qualifications & USCG Licenses

Assigning a charter to a captain who's free is easy. Assigning one who's free and holds the right license — and hasn't let it lapse — is what keeps you legal. EquipDash tracks your captains' USCG licenses alongside their other certifications and shows you who's cleared when you build a departure.

Record a captain's USCG licenses

Captains' licenses live with their other certifications on their staff record.

  1. Go to Staff, open the captain, and find Certifications.
  2. Add their USCG credentials — Master, OUPV, AB, Offshore Endorsement, Towing Endorsement — alongside First Aid / CPR, each with its expiry date.

Expired licenses are flagged everywhere a captain is used, so nothing slips by.

Tell a charter what it requires

On the charter experience, the Guide requirements card is where you list the licenses that trip needs (for example, USCG Master + Offshore Endorsement). This flags an unqualified captain — it doesn't hard-block you — so you always stay in control.

See who's qualified when you assign

When you assign a captain to a departure, the picker does the matching for you:

  • Captains who hold every required license and are current are marked with a Captain badge — assign with confidence.
  • Anyone missing a license, or holding an expired one, is flagged with the reason (e.g. "Offshore Endorsement expired") so you don't put them on the water by mistake.
