About Cabo Outfitters
Cabo Outfitters is an owner-operated eco-adventure company based in San Jose del Cabo, founded by Casey and Stacey Catlin — a couple from Oregon who have called Los Cabos home for over 22 years. Unlike the large-scale tour operators that dominate the marina, Cabo Outfitters runs small, intimate excursions that prioritise environmental education and genuine connection with Baja's landscapes. Their approach is more naturalist guide than theme park, focusing on the ecology, geology, and cultural history of the region alongside the physical adventure.
The activity menu is surprisingly diverse for a small operation: sea kayaking through the rock formations at Land's End, snorkelling at Chileno Bay and Santa Maria Bay, guided hiking in the Sierra de la Laguna mountains, mountain biking on desert and coastal trails, rock climbing and rappelling in canyon country, surfing lessons at beginner-friendly breaks, and seasonal whale watching and turtle release experiences. All tours are led by Casey or carefully trained local guides who bring deep knowledge of Baja's flora, fauna, and marine ecosystems to every outing.
What makes Cabo Outfitters exceptional is the personal touch and ecological commitment. With a perfect 5-star TripAdvisor rating maintained over years of operation, the Catlins have built a loyal following of guests who return trip after trip for experiences that feel more like exploring with a knowledgeable friend than joining a tour group. Group sizes rarely exceed six to eight guests, ensuring plenty of individual attention. For visitors who want to go beyond the resort bubble and genuinely experience the natural side of Los Cabos — from desert canyons to coral reefs — Cabo Outfitters is the standout choice.
