About Chugach Powder Guides
Chugach Powder Guides is Alaska's premier heli-skiing and snowcat skiing operation, providing access to the massive, untouched powder terrain of the Chugach Mountains directly east of Anchorage. Based in Girdwood, the company operates from a purpose-built lodge and helipad that puts clients within minutes of some of the deepest, steepest, and most consistently snow-covered terrain in North America. The Chugach range receives prodigious snowfall and its complex terrain — steep couloirs, open bowls, glaciated peaks, and tree runs — offers variety that keeps expert skiers and snowboarders coming back year after year.
Packages range from single-day heli-ski outings to multi-day all-inclusive trips that bundle lodging, meals, guiding, safety equipment, and helicopter access into a seamless experience. A typical day involves four to six helicopter-accessed runs on terrain selected by guides based on current snow conditions, avalanche stability, and group ability. All clients are outfitted with avalanche transceivers, probes, shovels, and airbag packs, and every run is preceded by a thorough avalanche assessment from AIARE-certified guides. Snowcat skiing packages offer a more affordable alternative with access to semi-groomed and off-piste terrain on Alyeska's flanks.
Chugach Powder Guides is widely regarded as one of the top heli-ski operations on the planet, regularly featured in ski films and magazines. Their terrain rivals anything in British Columbia or the Himalayas, with the added advantage of a relatively accessible location just 40 miles from Anchorage's international airport. For advanced and expert skiers chasing the deepest powder of their lives, CPG delivers a legitimate bucket-list experience.
