About Coronet Peak
Coronet Peak is an NZSki ski area 16 km from Queenstown on a fully sealed road, about 20 minutes from town. It opened in 1947 as New Zealand's first commercial ski area, and it runs the only night skiing in the country, which in 2026 ran from 4pm to 9pm on Wednesday and Friday nights from late June to early September.
The summit is 1,649 m, with 462 m of vertical and 280 ha of terrain served by three chairlifts, a T-bar and four surface lifts. Learners start on the conveyors and move to Meadows Express, and the base has rentals, a snow shop, group and private lessons from age 4 and Skiwiland childcare for ages 2 to 5.
In summer the Peak Gondola runs to the summit, and the mountain opens for chairlift-served mountain biking from December to March, with a bike shuttle, bike hire and a 9-hole disc golf course.
