About Freeheel and Wheel
Freeheel and Wheel is West Yellowstone's beloved bike and cross-country ski shop, a two-in-one operation that pairs a full outdoor gear store with a genuinely good coffee bar under one roof at 33 Yellowstone Avenue. Locally owned and a fixture of the town's Main Street, it is the hub for anyone looking to get out on the trails around the West Entrance in any season.
In summer the shop rents and services mountain bikes, gravel bikes and hybrids for riders heading out on the Rendezvous Trails, forest roads and the paved paths around town, with a full workshop for tune-ups and repairs. When the snow arrives, the same trail system becomes a world-class Nordic playground, and Freeheel and Wheel switches to cross-country ski and snowshoe rentals, waxing, lessons and demo gear. Staff know the local trail conditions intimately and are happy to point visitors toward the right loop for their ability.
The combination of expert local knowledge, quality rental fleets and an in-house espresso bar has made Freeheel and Wheel a community gathering spot as much as a rental shop. Riders and skiers routinely start and end their day here, and its friendly, no-attitude service has earned it a loyal following among visitors and locals alike.
