About George's Ski Hire
George's Ski Hire is a Mt Buller institution with roots stretching back to 1962, when founder George Aivatoglou first arrived on the mountain to build the original Auski Ski Shop during the rope-tow era. The business was officially established as George's Ski Hire in 1984 and has been family-owned and operated ever since, now run by George's son Rob and his family from their prime Village Centre location.
Positioned on Athlete's Walk just 20 metres from the Bourke Street Express chairlift, George's offers a comprehensive range of ski and snowboard rental packages for all ages and ability levels. Their fleet includes performance skis, beginner packages, snowboard setups, cross-country and snowshoe hire, plus a full clothing rental service for visitors who want to experience the snow without investing in their own gear. Expert technicians provide professional boot fitting and equipment tuning services on-site.
What truly sets George's apart is their unmatched heritage on Mt Buller — with over 60 years of continuous service on the mountain, the Aivatoglou family's knowledge of local conditions and equipment needs is unrivalled. In 2012, George and Margaret were officially recognised for 50 years of service, and the business continues to blend that old-school personal touch with modern rental technology and top-tier equipment from brands like Rossignol, Burton, Nordica, and Volkl.
