About Gorge Sail Ventures
Gorge Sail Ventures offers private sailing excursions on the Columbia River from Hood River Marina, giving guests an entirely different perspective on the Gorge's dramatic basalt cliffs, snow-capped volcanoes, and world-famous winds. Their vessel, S/V Northern Exposure, is a well-maintained 34-foot cruising yacht that accommodates up to six guests for intimate two-hour sails.
All sails are private charters — no strangers on board — making them ideal for date nights, anniversary celebrations, family outings, or small group gatherings. The captain adjusts each route based on wind and weather conditions to maximise scenery and comfort. Complimentary snacks and water are provided, and guests are welcome to bring their own wine, beer, and food aboard. No sailing experience is needed, though guests who want to help trim sails and steer are encouraged to get involved. The season runs mid-May through mid-September.
