About Hanazono Resort
Hanazono Resort is one of the four interconnected ski areas that make up Niseko United, located on the eastern face of Mount Niseko Annupuri. Operated by PCPD (Pacific Century Premium Developments), Hanazono has undergone significant investment in recent years, including a new high-speed detachable chairlift, expanded terrain, and a modern base area with restaurants, rental facilities, and an activity centre. The resort is particularly prized for its tree skiing — Hanazono's aspect catches Hokkaido's famous powder dumps and holds the snow in dense birch forests longer than the more exposed western faces.
The Hanazono activity centre offers a comprehensive range of services beyond lift tickets. Their rental shop stocks premium ski and snowboard equipment with professional fitting, and they run a dedicated kids' programme with specialised instructors and indoor play areas. In summer, Hanazono transforms into an adventure park with rafting on the Shiribetsu River, mountain karting, tree trekking aerial courses, and zip lines through the forest canopy. They also offer guided backcountry tours with certified guides who know the Annupuri terrain intimately, accessing the famous gates that open when conditions allow off-piste exploration.
What distinguishes Hanazono from the other Niseko United areas is the combination of world-class powder terrain with modern, purpose-built facilities. The base area feels more like a Colorado or European resort than a traditional Japanese ski area, with international-standard amenities designed for the foreign visitors who make up a large portion of Niseko's clientele. The HANAZONO 308 lounge, Edge restaurant, and après-ski bar create a social hub that rivals anything on the mountain. With the Niseko United All Mountain Pass, skiers can access Hanazono alongside Grand Hirafu, Niseko Village, and Annupuri for a combined 2,191 acres of terrain.
