About Inshore Adventures
Inshore Adventures brings a different style of fishing to Saugatuck: hands-on, light-tackle sportfishing where guests hold the rod, work the lure, and feel every strike — a deliberate contrast to traditional big-lake trolling. Trips target the Kalamazoo River, Kalamazoo Lake, and nearshore Lake Michigan, chasing smallmouth bass, pike, freshwater drum, and seasonal salmon and trout.
The smaller boat and casting-focused approach make these charters a natural fit for kids, beginners, and anglers who want to actively fish rather than watch rod holders. The captain teaches technique throughout the trip, and all rods, tackle, and safety gear are provided. Beyond fishing, the company runs relaxed upriver sightseeing tours through the marshes and bayous of the Kalamazoo, where bald eagles and waterfowl are regular sightings.
Charters depart from the Saugatuck waterfront and run from spring through fall in trip lengths suited to families with short attention spans as well as dedicated anglers. As one of the few light-tackle guide services on this stretch of the West Michigan coast, Inshore Adventures fills the gap between a full offshore charter and fishing from the pier, and summer dates book quickly.
