About Mt. Shasta Nordic Center
The Mt. Shasta Nordic Center is the region's dedicated cross-country ski and snowshoe destination, set in the forest on the slopes of Mount Shasta along the Ski Park Highway corridor. A community-supported facility operating under a Shasta-Trinity National Forest permit, it grooms an extensive trail network through quiet, snow-covered woods with sweeping views of the peak.
The center maintains 23.5 km of groomed trails for both classic and skate cross-country skiing suited to all ages and abilities, plus a dedicated 2.5 km snowshoeing trail. On-site services include classic and skate ski rentals, snowshoe rentals, and professional lessons, while a guest services lodge offers hot drinks and snacks for warming up between laps.
Run with a strong volunteer and community ethos, the Nordic Center is a beloved local institution that makes human-powered winter recreation accessible and welcoming. Its well-groomed tracks, gentle learning terrain, and rental and instruction programs make it the natural starting point for anyone new to Nordic skiing in the Mount Shasta area.
