About Roundhill Ski Area

Roundhill Ski Area is the ski field above Lake Tekapo, at 2544 Lilybank Road. Its Heritage Express is an advanced lift, 1,473 m long on a 26 to 32 degree slope and topping out at 2,133 m, and riders need a nutcracker and harness. Beginners use a separate learners' area with a platter and two short rope tows.

The base lodge rents more than 550 sets of Rossignol skis and Burton snowboards, plus helmets, toboggans and the nutcracker and harness for the Heritage Express. Rental is walk-up only, snowboard rental starts at age 8, and there is no clothing hire on the mountain.

The snowsports school runs group lessons on the day and private lessons booked online, plus a First Timer Package with a learner pass, rental and a 90-minute lesson. The 2026 season ran from 27 June to 20 September.
