About The Great Valluga
The Great Valluga is a concept ski rental store and retail boutique located in the heart of St. Anton am Arlberg's pedestrian zone. Named after the iconic 2,811-metre Valluga peak that towers above the resort, the shop occupies a 300-square-metre space that blends curated retail with professional ski hire — a departure from the purely functional rental outlets found elsewhere in the village. The Great Valluga is part of the Intersport Arlberg group but operates with its own distinct brand identity and premium positioning.
The rental programme centres on high-performance and freeride equipment from brands like Faction, Black Crows, K2, and Völkl, with a particular emphasis on freeride and all-mountain categories that reflect St. Anton's reputation as one of the Alps' premier off-piste destinations. Touring skis, splitboards, and avalanche safety kits are available for backcountry-minded visitors. The retail side stocks a hand-picked selection of technical outerwear, mid-layers, accessories, and lifestyle pieces that lean toward design-conscious mountain culture rather than mass-market sportswear.
What makes The Great Valluga stand out is the atmosphere and curation. The shop feels more like a boutique than a rental warehouse, with knowledgeable staff who skew toward freeride and touring expertise. Its central Dorfstraße location — steps from hotels, restaurants, and the main après-ski strip — makes it an easy first stop for visitors arriving in town. Early opening hours (7:00 a.m.) mean guests can gear up well before the first lifts spin at 8:30.
