About Tube Town Perisher
Tube Town is Perisher's dedicated snow tubing park, offering a family-friendly alternative to skiing and snowboarding that requires zero experience and no special equipment. Located in a purpose-built area within the Perisher resort precinct, Tube Town features groomed lanes where visitors ride inflatable tubes down snow-covered slopes at exciting but controlled speeds. It's one of the most popular non-skiing activities in the Australian Alps and regularly sells out during school holiday periods.
Sessions run for approximately one hour and include tube hire, access to the tubing lanes, and a moving carpet (magic carpet) that carries riders back to the top of the slope — no hiking required. The park is staffed by attendants who manage lane traffic and ensure safety, making it suitable for children as young as four years old. No special clothing is required beyond warm layers and waterproof pants, though gloves and beanies are strongly recommended. Tube Town operates during the snow season only, typically June through September, weather permitting.
Tube Town fills an important niche at Perisher — it gives non-skiers something genuinely fun to do in the snow without the cost and commitment of a full ski rental and lift pass. Families with mixed ability levels often split up, with some members skiing while others enjoy tubing. The experience is pure, uncomplicated fun, and the laughs-per-dollar ratio is arguably the best value activity on the mountain. Booking ahead through the Perisher website is essential during peak periods.
