About Amelia Angler Outfitters
Amelia Angler Outfitters is the longest-running fishing charter and tackle operation in historic Fernandina Beach, headquartered on Centre Street in the heart of downtown. Founded and run by Terry Lacoss — an IGFA representative with multiple bass, kingfish, and redfish titles who still averages around 200 days a year on the water — the outfit pairs serious angling pedigree with easy access for vacationing families.
Charters cover the full local spread: backwater and inshore trips working the salt marsh creeks for redfish, spotted seatrout, and flounder; nearshore runs for kingfish and tarpon in season; and offshore trips chasing snapper and pelagics. Sightseeing charters are also available for groups who would rather cruise past Cumberland Island's wild horses than bait a hook. The downtown shop supplies tackle, gear, and honest local advice about what is biting and where.
Conservation is woven into the operation — Lacoss serves with a NOAA working group and the Coastal Conservation Association, and the guides practice careful catch handling. For anglers, the appeal is straightforward: decades of accumulated knowledge of these specific creeks, bars, and tide lines, which translates into more hookups per trip. Booking directly through the Centre Street shop remains the classic way to arrange a day on the water here.
