About Cape Cod Waterways
Cape Cod Waterways has been a beloved family destination since 1985, putting visitors of every age on the gentle Swan Pond River right from their dock at 16 Route 28 in Dennisport. Their fleet of kayaks, canoes, stand-up paddleboards, and pedal boats is designed for accessibility — rentals suit paddlers from age six to one hundred, and their signature family-sized kayaks seat two adults and two toddlers so even the youngest adventurers can join in safely.
The Swan Pond River is one of the calmest, most sheltered paddling routes on the Cape, winding past small islands and acres of conservation land before opening onto the tidal flats and sandbars of Nantucket Sound. The river's gentle current and absence of powerboat traffic make it an ideal stretch for first-time kayakers, and the scenery — herons wading in the shallows, ospreys circling above the marsh — rewards even a short paddle with genuine Cape Cod wildlife encounters. Cape Cod Waterways also operates from a second location at Bass River Park in West Dennis, giving visitors a choice of waterways.
As the only full-service boat-rental facility on the Swan River, Cape Cod Waterways provides all necessary equipment and amenities on site, so guests can walk in, choose a boat, and be on the water within minutes without hauling gear from a car. Hourly pricing keeps the commitment light — perfect for families splitting a beach day between paddling and sunbathing. For more than three decades, the operation has been a rite of passage for Cape Cod vacationers, and its warm, low-key atmosphere continues to draw return visitors year after year.
