About Cross Zee Ranch
Cross Zee Ranch is Canmore's oldest horseback riding operation, set on the northeast boundary of town in the spectacular Bow Valley with direct access to kilometres of scenic trail. The ranch sits at the base of the Rocky Mountain foothills, giving riders unobstructed views of the Three Sisters, Ha Ling Peak, and the surrounding ranges from the moment they mount up.
Trail rides run daily in morning and afternoon sessions, with one-hour and two-hour options available. No previous riding experience is required — friendly guides match each rider with a surefooted horse suited to their comfort level, and the trails wind through alpine meadows, aspen groves, and along creek beds that showcase the Bow Valley at its most scenic. The ranch keeps group sizes manageable so guides can give individual attention and share local knowledge about the landscape, wildlife, and history of the area.
What makes Cross Zee Ranch special is its proximity to town — you can be on horseback within 20 minutes of leaving your Canmore hotel — combined with the authenticity of a working ranch that's been part of the local community for decades. The relaxed, western atmosphere and well-cared-for horses have earned them loyal repeat visitors and strong word-of-mouth recommendations from locals and tourists alike.
