About Discovery Whale Watch
Discovery Whale Watch is a Monterey-based whale watching company rooted in marine exploration and conservation. Operating from Fisherman's Wharf, they take guests into the rich waters of the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary to observe whales, dolphins, sea lions, and seabirds in their natural habitat throughout every season of the year.
Their tours run approximately three hours and are guided by experienced marine biologists who provide live narration about the animals, their behaviours, and the unique oceanography of the Monterey submarine canyon. Guests commonly spot humpback whales, blue whales, gray whales on migration, Pacific white-sided dolphins, Risso's dolphins, and harbour porpoises depending on the time of year.
Discovery Whale Watch distinguishes itself through its educational focus — every trip doubles as a marine biology lesson. The crew is passionate about ocean conservation and encourages responsible wildlife viewing practices. Their vessel offers covered and open-air viewing areas, clean restrooms, and a snack bar, making it comfortable for families and wildlife enthusiasts alike.
