About Fly Sun Valley
Fly Sun Valley is the Wood River Valley's premier paragliding operator, offering tandem flights from the slopes of Bald Mountain at Sun Valley Resort. Founded and operated by Chuck Smith — a former factory test pilot for UP International, US National Champion, and USHPA Advanced Instructor — the company has maintained a perfect safety record over more than 25 years and thousands of tandem flights.
With no prior experience required, guests are securely connected to a certified USHPA tandem instructor and smoothly lifted into the air from the resort's ski slopes. There is no cliff jumping involved; the paraglider launches gently from the mountainside. Flights are available daily from 8 AM to 6 PM during the flying season, with views stretching across the Sawtooth Range, Pioneer Mountains, and the Big Wood River valley below.
Fly Sun Valley holds the exclusive paragliding permit from the US Forest Service for the Sun Valley area, making it the only operator authorised to offer tandem flights from Bald Mountain. Their office is located at 511 Leadville Avenue in Ketchum, putting them right in the heart of the action for visitors looking to add a once-in-a-lifetime aerial experience to their Sun Valley trip.
