About Horrocks Outfitting
Horrocks Outfitting is a Lake Placid-based fishing guide service owned and operated by Captain Zac Horrocks, a USCG-licensed captain with over 18 years of experience guiding anglers across the Adirondack backcountry. His operation covers Lake Placid, the Saranac Chain, and dozens of remote ponds and streams that most visitors would never find on their own.
Trips run aboard a 22-foot Pathfinder bay boat for open-water lake fishing, targeting species like landlocked salmon, lake trout, smallmouth bass, and northern pike. For fly fishing, Captain Zac guides wade trips on the West Branch of the Ausable and other Adirondack rivers. Light-tackle and spin-fishing options are also available. All rods, reels, tackle, and terminal gear are provided — guests just need to show up with a valid New York fishing license.
What separates Horrocks Outfitting from other area guides is Captain Zac's deep backcountry knowledge. He regularly takes clients to remote ponds accessible only by hiking trail or canoe portage, where wild brook trout see very little fishing pressure. His trips are popular with both serious anglers chasing trophy fish and families looking for a relaxed half-day on the water.
