About K2 Aviation
K2 Aviation is one of Talkeetna's longest-running flightseeing operators, flying visitors into the heart of the Alaska Range and around 20,310-foot Denali, the highest peak in North America. Based at the Talkeetna State Airport, the company has been putting travellers over the glaciers and granite spires of Denali National Park since 1974 and is a cornerstone of the town's bush-plane heritage.
Their fleet of ski-equipped turbine and piston aircraft runs a full menu of scenic tours, from the one-hour Southside Explorer to the flagship Grand Denali Tour that circles the summit. The signature experience is a glacier landing, where pilots set down on the Ruth or Pika Glacier so guests can step out onto the ice deep in the Great Gorge. Flights are narrated by experienced mountain pilots who know every ridgeline and icefall.
What sets K2 apart is its role as an official climbing air taxi for Denali mountaineers, ferrying expeditions to the 7,200-foot Kahiltna Glacier base camp each spring. That backcountry pedigree means the same pilots flying sightseers have decades of glacier-landing experience, and the operation carries the permits and safety record that come with supporting serious alpine expeditions.
