About Katoa Lake Rotorua
Katoa Lake Rotorua delivers high-speed jet boat adventures directly from the Rotorua City Lakefront, combining adrenaline-pumping 360-degree spins with cultural storytelling and scenic views of the lake and surrounding volcanic terrain. Their custom-built jet boats reach speeds of up to 85 km/h while weaving across one of New Zealand's most iconic lakes.
The main experience is a 30-minute Speed and Spins tour that launches from the lakefront jetty and races across Lake Rotorua, passing Mokoia Island while the skipper shares Maori legends and local history between high-speed manoeuvres. They also offer parasailing flights behind a dedicated parasail vessel, giving guests 10-12 minutes of airtime up to 400 feet above the lake with panoramic views of the city, geothermal areas, and surrounding forests. Combo packages bundle jet boating and parasailing together.
Katoa stands out for its central lakefront location — within walking distance of downtown hotels and restaurants — making it one of the most accessible adventure activities in Rotorua. No prior experience is needed, all safety gear is provided, and trips run rain or shine with departures throughout the day.
