About Kernow Coasteering
Kernow Coasteering is a specialist coasteering and sea-cliff climbing provider based in Penzance, operating along the dramatic granite coastline of West Cornwall. They are the only operator offering coasteering on the Isles of Scilly, and their mainland sessions at Praa Sands near Porthleven take clients through some of the most spectacular coastal geology in the UK — wave-cut platforms, sea caves, blowholes, and natural rock pools along the Mining Heritage Coast.
Their coasteering sessions combine cliff traversing, rock scrambling, cave exploration, wild swimming, and cliff jumping at heights tailored to the group's confidence. Rock climbing courses are offered at Trewavas Head, a sea cliff venue near Porthleven with routes for beginners through to intermediate climbers, as well as at the dramatic inland pinnacle of Roche Rock. All sessions are led by qualified instructors and fully equipped — wetsuits, helmets, buoyancy aids, and climbing harnesses are provided.
What distinguishes Kernow Coasteering is their focus on the wilder, less-visited stretches of Cornwall's coast. While many operators cluster around Newquay and the North Coast, Kernow's Praa Sands location and Scilly Isles expeditions give clients access to coastline that feels genuinely remote. Their climbing arm adds a dimension that most coasteering-only providers lack.
