About Outer Cape Sailing
Outer Cape Sailing launches from Wellfleet Town Pier, offering an intimate alternative to the Cape's larger tour-boat operations. Their fleet includes a 30-foot Discover Catamaran and an 18-foot Marshall Sanderling catboat, each carrying a maximum of six passengers — small enough for a truly personal sailing experience on the sheltered waters of Wellfleet Harbor and the surrounding Outer Cape coastline.
Day sails are the signature offering, with a three-hour cruise that typically includes a stop at Jeremy Point for swimming, beachcombing, and seal spotting on the sandbars before sailing back through the harbour. Sunset sails glide past the Herring River Estuary as the sky lights up over the marshes, and US Sailing-certified instruction is available for guests who want to learn the ropes — literally — during their time on the water. The small-group format means instructors can tailor lessons to each sailor's level, from tying basic knots to reading wind and tides.
Wellfleet's position on the Outer Cape puts Outer Cape Sailing within reach of some of the most dramatic coastal scenery in New England, including the towering bluffs of the Cape Cod National Seashore and the wildlife-rich flats that stretch toward Great Island. For visitors who would rather feel the wind in the sails than fight Route 6 traffic, a half-day on one of these boats is one of the most relaxing ways to experience the quieter side of Cape Cod.
