About Pico Mountain
Pico Mountain is an independent ski area located just minutes from Killington on Route 4, offering a classic New England skiing and riding experience with more vertical drop than 80 percent of resorts in the region. With 58 trails served by seven lifts across 468 skiable acres, Pico has carved out a loyal following among families and intermediate skiers who prefer shorter lift lines, a relaxed atmosphere, and genuinely friendly staff over the mega-resort experience next door.
Winter visitors enjoy a well-balanced trail mix with 18 percent beginner, 46 percent intermediate, and 36 percent expert terrain, plus a recently upgraded snowmaking system that covers 80 percent of trails. The base lodge houses a full-service rental shop with ski and snowboard packages for all ages, a retail store, and a comfortable cafeteria-style restaurant. Pico's family-friendly pricing and multi-day pass options make it a smart choice for budget-conscious skiers staying in the Killington corridor.
In the warmer months, Pico is home to the Adventure Center, which features the Beast Mountain Coaster — a 4,800-foot-long alpine coaster with tight corkscrew turns — plus the Soaring Eagle zip line, Skye Ropes Course, WreckTangle obstacle course, trampolines, and an Amaze'n Maze. The Adventure Center operates from late May through early November, making Pico a genuine four-season destination for families visiting central Vermont.
