About Sara-Placid Sled & Spoke
Sara-Placid Sled & Spoke is a year-round recreation rental company serving the Lake Placid, Saranac Lake, and Tupper Lake corridor along the Adirondack Rail Trail. In winter they run snowmobile rentals and guided tours; in warmer months they switch to electric bikes, fat-tire bikes, and traditional bicycle rentals — all built around the 34-mile paved trail that connects the three towns.
As a certified Polaris Adventures outfitter, their snowmobile fleet is refreshed each season with brand-new machines suited to every skill level. Guided snowmobile tours are available for beginners, while experienced riders can opt for half-day or multi-day self-guided rentals. On the bike side, their e-bike fleet lets riders cover more of the Rail Trail without the grind, and fat-tire bikes handle snow and shoulder-season conditions.
What makes Sled & Spoke unique is the Rail Trail itself — a purpose-built, car-free corridor that runs through some of the most scenic backcountry in the Adirondacks. The company handles all safety briefings, helmets, and route recommendations, making it easy for visitors to explore without prior experience. Their Saranac Lake base is a short drive from downtown Lake Placid.
