About See Rock City
Rock City is a legendary Lookout Mountain attraction that has been drawing visitors since 1932 with its enchanted trail through massive ancient rock formations, lush gardens, and a cliff-edge overlook where you can famously "See Seven States." While best known as a garden and geological attraction, Rock City has expanded significantly into adventure territory with their Soaring Eagle zipline, the Swing-A-Long Bridge, and seasonal events that keep the experience fresh year-round.
The main Enchanted Trail winds through a 4,100-foot pathway past towering sandstone formations, through narrow passages like Fat Man's Squeeze, over suspension bridges, and past more than 400 native plant species. The Soaring Eagle zipline launches from near Lover's Leap and sends riders soaring over the valley with views stretching across the Tennessee River basin. Seasonal events include Rock City's Enchanted Garden of Lights in winter and the Southern Blooms Festival in spring. Combination tickets with nearby Ruby Falls and the Incline Railway are available.
Rock City's enduring appeal lies in its combination of natural wonder and nostalgic Americana — the famous "See Rock City" barn roof signs are an American roadside icon. For adventure travelers, the Soaring Eagle zipline and the dramatic cliff trails deliver genuine thrills, while the botanical gardens and fairy tale caverns make it one of the few outdoor attractions in Chattanooga that truly works for every age group. It's a quintessential Lookout Mountain experience that no visit to the area is complete without.
