About Stowe Mountain Bike Academy
Stowe Mountain Bike Academy is a rider development programme and mountain bike school based in Stowe, Vermont, with operations centred at Cady Hill Lodge. They offer structured instruction for kids and adults through camps, clinics, guided rides, and a competitive race team, all taught by PMBIA-certified coaches. Their mission is to grow the mountain biking community in Stowe by making the sport accessible, safe, and fun for riders at every stage of progression.
Summer camps for youth run throughout the season and cover everything from basic bike handling and trail etiquette to advanced skills like cornering, drops, and line selection on Stowe's extensive singletrack network. Adult clinics focus on specific skills — women's clinics, beginner fundamentals, and intermediate progression sessions are all regular offerings. Guided rides take visitors and locals out on curated loops through Cady Hill Forest, the Adams Camp trails, and other Stowe-area networks, with guides matching routes to group ability. The race team competes in the Vermont Mountain Bike Association series and provides a pathway for young riders serious about the sport.
What makes Stowe Mountain Bike Academy valuable is their deep integration with the local trail community. Coaches are active trail builders and advocates who know every root, rock, and line on the Stowe network. For visitors, a guided ride or half-day clinic is the fastest way to unlock trails that would take days to figure out on your own. For families, the summer camps keep kids engaged on bikes all day while parents explore Stowe's other attractions.
