About Telluride Mountain Guides
Telluride Mountain Guides is the longest continuously operating guide service in Telluride, established in 1984. Over four decades of guiding in the San Juan Mountains, the company has evolved into a team of dedicated professionals who provide expert instruction and leadership on rock, ice, snow, and alpine terrain throughout the region.
Their summer menu includes guided rock climbing from beginner single-pitch routes to advanced multi-pitch objectives, via ferrata traverses, peak ascents on 13ers and 14ers, and custom hiking itineraries through wildflower-filled alpine basins. Winter brings backcountry ski touring, avalanche education courses, ice climbing in the Ouray and Telluride backcountry, and mountaineering on snow-covered peaks. All programs are tailored to the group's ability and goals.
What distinguishes Telluride Mountain Guides is the institutional knowledge that comes from 40 years of continuous operation in the same mountain range. Their guides have an intimate understanding of weather patterns, route conditions, and seasonal hazards that only comes from decades of daily fieldwork. For anyone looking to safely push their limits in the San Juans, TMG is the benchmark.
