About Tightline Fishing Charters
Tightline Fishing Charters is a guide operation run by Captain Ron Hatcher, a U.S. Coast Guard licensed captain who has fished the waters around Daytona Beach since childhood. Trips depart from the Dunlawton Boat Ramp in Port Orange, minutes from downtown Daytona Beach, and cover the Halifax River, the Intracoastal Waterway, and the nearshore Atlantic out of Ponce Inlet.
Inshore charters target the region's staple gamefish: redfish, spotted sea trout, black drum, flounder, and sheepshead, with seasonal runs of snook and tarpon adding variety. Nearshore trips chase king mackerel, cobia, and sharks within a few miles of the beach, and dedicated shark fishing trips are a popular option for thrill-seekers. The boat, tackle, bait, and licensing are all covered, so guests only need sunscreen and a cooler for the fillets.
Captain Ron also runs scenic boat tours and eco trips for families who want dolphins and birdlife rather than a fish box, which makes Tightline flexible for mixed groups. Trips are private, so the pace and target species are set by the party on board rather than a crowd of strangers. Booking is handled directly with the captain, who matches trip plans to tides and season.
