About Top of the Rockies Zip Line
Top of the Rockies Zip Line is Colorado's only true backcountry zipline experience, operating from a private reserve along Highway 91 between Leadville and Copper Mountain since 2012. Just a 20-minute drive from Keystone, the course is famously the only zipline in the world where you fly directly over a working railroad — the Leadville, Colorado & Southern scenic railway — adding a one-of-a-kind thrill to an already spectacular mountain adventure.
The year-round course features multiple high-speed zip lines strung across deep valleys and pine-covered ridges at over 10,000 feet elevation, with panoramic views of the Mosquito Range and the upper Arkansas River valley. Tours run approximately two to three hours and include all safety gear, harnesses, and instruction from certified guides. No prior experience is needed, and the course accommodates a wide range of ages and fitness levels, making it a popular option for families, corporate groups, and bachelor/bachelorette parties.
What makes Top of the Rockies exceptional is the genuine backcountry setting — this is not a theme-park zip line bolted to utility poles. The private-land location means no crowds, no highway noise, and unobstructed mountain scenery at every launch platform. The train flyover moment is a guaranteed highlight, and the guides keep the energy high with local history and jokes between runs.
