About Alaska's Finest Tours & Adventures
Alaska's Finest Tours & Adventures is a 100% Alaska Native-owned tour company operating from 423 East 5th Avenue in downtown Anchorage — just a three-minute walk from the Anchorage Visitor Center. They run year-round guided tours covering glaciers, wildlife, city highlights, and cultural experiences, all led by local guides with deep roots in the community.
Their most popular trip is the Portage Glacier tour — a half-day guided adventure along the scenic Turnagain Arm highway that includes a one-hour glacier cruise narrated by a U.S. Forest Service Ranger, where you can get up close to calving icebergs. The itinerary also stops at the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center for face-to-face encounters with bears, moose, bison, elk, reindeer, and musk ox. Other offerings include an Anchorage city tour with wild smoked salmon and reindeer sausage tasting, Matanuska Glacier day trips, and shuttle service between Anchorage and Girdwood.
The Native ownership gives the tours a cultural depth that cookie-cutter bus tours can't match — guides share indigenous perspectives on the land, wildlife, and history alongside the standard glacier and wildlife facts. Small group sizes and a downtown pickup location make logistics easy, and the combination of glacier cruising, wildlife viewing, and local food tasting packs a lot of Alaska into a single half-day outing.
