About Australian School of Mountaineering
The Australian School of Mountaineering is the country's longest-established and most experienced climbing school and guiding service, operating from its base on Katoomba Street in the heart of the Blue Mountains since 1981. ASM delivers world-class technical training and guiding across canyoning, rock climbing, abseiling, mountaineering and wilderness survival skills in the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Blue Mountains National Park.
Their elite group of nationally and internationally qualified climbing guides and instructors run everything from beginner-friendly half-day abseiling experiences to multi-day advanced canyoning courses. Popular offerings include the Empress Canyon adventure near Wentworth Falls, cliff-edge abseiling at Katoomba, and bespoke rock climbing sessions on the area's iconic sandstone crags. All specialist equipment — harnesses, helmets, wetsuits and ropes — is provided on every trip.
With over four decades of continuous operation in the Blue Mountains, ASM has an unrivalled safety record and depth of local knowledge. Their guides know every canyon, cliff face and hidden approach track in the Greater Blue Mountains, making them the go-to choice for both first-timers wanting a safe introduction and experienced climbers seeking expert-level guiding.
