About Byron Bay Dive Centre
Byron Bay Dive Centre is the region's premier scuba diving operator, offering guided dives and PADI certification courses at Julian Rocks Marine Reserve — one of Australia's top dive sites. Located in the heart of Byron Bay's town centre, the shop has been running dive operations since the early 1990s and has introduced thousands of visitors to the underwater world of the Byron Bay Marine Park. Julian Rocks sits just 2.5 kilometres offshore and is a meeting point for tropical and temperate currents, creating an extraordinary diversity of marine life.
Dive experiences range from introductory resort dives for complete beginners to advanced open-water courses and specialty certifications in nitrox, deep diving, and underwater photography. Snorkelling tours to Julian Rocks are also available for those who prefer to stay on the surface. Depending on the season, divers can encounter grey nurse sharks, leopard sharks, manta rays, turtles, wobbegong sharks, and vast schools of tropical fish. All equipment is provided, and the centre maintains a fleet of well-serviced dive gear including BCD vests, regulators, wetsuits, and underwater cameras for hire.
The centre's team of PADI-certified instructors bring decades of combined experience diving these waters, and their local knowledge ensures guests are taken to the best sites for conditions on any given day. Small group sizes — typically no more than six divers per guide — mean a more personal and safer experience underwater. For anyone visiting Byron Bay who wants to explore what lies beneath the surface, Byron Bay Dive Centre is the most established and trusted operator in town.
