About Cape Canopy Tour
Cape Canopy Tour operates a world-class zipline experience through the Hottentots Holland Nature Reserve near Elgin, roughly an hour's drive from central Cape Town. Set within a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the tour sends participants soaring across eleven zipline slides — some stretching over 300 metres — above the deep gorges and fynbos-covered cliffs of the Riviersonderend canyon, with a suspension bridge crossing a narrow ravine above a spectacular double waterfall.
The full tour takes four to five hours and is led by two trained facilitators per group. Groups are kept small at eight to nine people for a more intimate experience. The adventure begins with a 4x4 transfer through the nature reserve to the start point, with all harnesses, helmets, and safety gear provided. No prior experience is needed, and participants as young as twelve can take part provided they meet the minimum weight requirement.
Cape Canopy Tour stands out for the quality of the natural setting — the Hottentots Holland mountains are among the most biodiverse landscapes on Earth, and gliding above ancient sandstone gorges through pristine fynbos is an experience that competitors in commercial forests or theme parks simply cannot replicate. The tour consistently earns five-star reviews and is widely considered one of the top outdoor adventures in the Western Cape.
