About Cindy's Riding Stable
Cindy's Riding Stable has been offering horseback trail rides on Mackinac Island since 1974, making it a fixture of the island's long equestrian tradition. Family-owned and operated, this seasonal stable sits downtown on Market Street and turns the island's eight-plus miles of wooded interior trails into a riding destination for visitors of all experience levels.
The stable keeps a string of roughly 30 saddle horses suited to a range of abilities, and offers both guided and unguided trail riding. Guests can saddle up for an escorted ride or, with the stable's blessing, set out on their own along the State Park's bridle paths to discover quiet corners of Mackinac far from the bustle of Main Street. Horses are matched to riders so that beginners and confident equestrians alike get a comfortable mount.
With five decades of operation, Cindy's combines a deep local knowledge of the island's trails with the relaxed feel of a family business. Riding horseback through Mackinac's forests and bluffs offers a perspective that fits the island's car-free character perfectly — and for many visitors a trail ride here becomes one of the most memorable parts of their stay.
