About FishHound Expeditions
FishHound Expeditions is a guide-owned, guide-operated fly fishing company based in Girdwood that runs trips across some of Alaska's best rivers and streams. Their guides have fished and guided across Alaska and around the world, but they always come back to the rivers radiating from Southcentral Alaska — and they have spent years scouting and securing permits for the most productive and remote waters in the state.
Day trips range from half-day wade-fishing sessions near Anchorage to full-day float trips on the Kenai River targeting rainbow trout, Dolly Varden, and all five Pacific salmon species. For dedicated anglers, FishHound offers multi-day expeditions of up to ten days, float-fishing remote western Alaska and Kamchatka rivers with full camping gear, home-cooked meals, and cold beer included. All gear, tackle, flies, and lunch are provided on every trip.
FishHound's reputation is built on their catch-and-release ethic for rainbow trout and Dolly Varden, combined with a relaxed, education-first guiding style. Guides tailor each outing to the client's experience level — from first-time fly casters to seasoned anglers chasing trophy rainbows. Their Girdwood base puts clients within striking distance of dozens of productive fisheries without the long drive from Anchorage.
