About Gunflint Lodge & Outfitters
Gunflint Lodge & Outfitters has welcomed guests to the shore of Gunflint Lake since 1925, making it one of Minnesota's longest-operating wilderness resorts. Perched at the end of the Gunflint Trail with Canada visible across the water, the property combines lakeside cabins with a full outdoor activity program that runs year-round.
The rental fleet covers canoes, kayaks, fishing boats, stand-up paddleboards, and fat bikes — including electric fat bikes for the hills — with two- and four-hour rental blocks and helmets included on the bikes. Guided offerings include fishing trips on Gunflint Lake, naturalist-led hikes and wildlife programs, and complete BWCA canoe outfitting for guests launching multi-day trips from nearby entry points. Winter brings groomed cross-country ski trails, snowshoeing, and cold-season packages from the same base.
A century of continuous operation is the calling card: the lodge's history is woven into Gunflint Trail lore, and its blend of comfortable lodging with genuine wilderness access — moose in the bay, the BWCA out the back door — is rare even on the North Shore. For visitors who want adventure by day and a fireplace by night, it remains the trail's benchmark.
