About Harlyn Surf School
Harlyn Surf School is one of Cornwall's longest-running surf schools, operating from its beach cabin at Harlyn Bay near Padstow since 1994. Named by The Sunday Times as the best surf school on the North Cornish coast, it has spent three decades introducing thousands of visitors and locals to surfing, bodyboarding, coasteering, and stand-up paddleboarding on some of Cornwall's most beautiful beaches.
Surf lessons run daily at Harlyn Bay and nearby Constantine Bay, with all equipment included and ISA-qualified instructors keeping group sizes small. Their SUP sessions operate on the sheltered Camel Estuary at Padstow, ideal for beginners, while coasteering sessions take participants along the rugged headland with cliff jumps, cave swims, and scrambling. Private tuition, kids' surf camps, and multi-session courses are available throughout the season from Easter to October.
What sets Harlyn apart is its longevity and deep roots in the local surf community — the team knows every reef, rip, and sandbar along this stretch of coast. The school's location at Harlyn Bay provides a sheltered, family-friendly beach that works on swells that close out more exposed breaks, making it a reliable spot for lessons year-round.
